Letters from an undertaker
Recently, work has been a little slow, there isn't much morale in the company and we are pretty much the only one which has no counseling, venting sessions, meetings, DE-briefings or wild nights to let loose. With that combined with the amount of gruesome bodies, homicides and suicides there isn't much fun except for finding a funny name. I'm sure all of you 'Beavis and Butt-head' fans will get a giggle out of this one. This is a real name, I collected her myself, I still don't understand what her parents were thinking.

Undertaker News: Lonely woman Keeps dead friend to watch NASCAR

Woman keeps 'mummified' friend in house

05:00 AEST Fri Jul 13 2012

A US woman said she kept the body of her dead friend in a chair at her home for more than a year and a half because she didn't want to be alone.

Police in Jackson, Michigan, found the mummified body of Charles Zigler, 67, sitting in a living room chair last week, the Jackson Citizen Patriot reports.
His friend and roommate, Linda Chase, 72, has admitted to cleaning and dressing Mr Zigler's body after he died so she could talk and watch television with him.
"It's not that I'm heartless," she said.
"I didn't want to be alone. He was the only guy who was ever nice to me."
Ms Chase hasn't been arrested, but she is being investigated for financial fraud after she admitted to cashing in Mr Zigler's social security cheques.
Police believe Mr Zigler died of natural causes in 2010, but Ms Chase said he only passed away last December when "he just fell asleep".
She said there wasn't a bad smell coming from the body.
Police were alerted to the situation after a family member became concerned for Mr Zigler's welfare.
It's unclear why the family member waited so long to call police.
"That wasn't right to leave him lay like that," said Mr Zigler's son, Walter.

Undertaker News: Cemetery flags stolen, eaten

Police believe groundhogs are responsible for a series of flag thefts from war veteran graves that have outraged a New Jersey community.
Hudson Police believe they have identified the perpetrators of a rash of flag thefts in the Grand Army of the Republic section of Cedar Park Cemetery. It appears to have been an inside job: All signs are now pointing to some underground residents of the cemetery itself.
Around 75 flags have been reported missing from Civil War graves in the days leading up to and following our nation’s Independence Day celebrations.

The culprit?

Woodchucks.

The disappearing flags led to suspicion in the community that vandals were deliberately targeting the graves.
But when authorities in Hudson recently decided to set up video surveillance, it showed the flags were not being taken by heartless thieves.
A camera instead showed groundhogs that inhabit the cemetery climbing the tombstones, apparently to snatch away the decorations.
Video cameras were later guided into the groundhog burrows and showed the creatures had amassed a vast collection of flags underground.
Hudson Mayor Bill Hallenbeck said he was glad that a resident was not the perpetrator.
Cemetery volunteer caretaker Vincent Wallace participated in the investigation. Although he said he had seen no definitive evidence, “right now it looks like the woodchuck is the culprit. He was right there where the flag was gone.”

In addition, Wallace said, “the mechanics of removal from the pole indicate that an animal had removed them.”

Investigators observed that flags had been pulled down with the flagpole still in the holder, Wallace said.
“The flag is only a foot to 18 inches off the ground,” he said. “A human would have ripped it upwards.”
Wallace said the woodchuck dens, with their twists and turns, were presenting some problems to the pole cameras, which are rigid.

Woodchucks, he said, are “all over” the cemetery, burrowing under stones and under tree roots.“The police did a great job,” said Wallace, who assists the cemetery crew in taking care of the Grand Army of the Republic section.
“They did stakeouts, they did bike patrols, they had at least four officers on this.”
“We patrolled the daylights out of that place since it was going on,” Graziano said. “We can all rest a little easier knowing that it was a critter and not a human defacing our flags, especially those of the veterans. Now I just need to figure out where to send the bills.”

"I'm glad we don’t have someone who has taken it upon themselves to desecrate the stones and the flags in front of them," he said.

Actor Ernest Borgnine dies at 95

Film and television actor Ernest Borgnine, who won the 1955 Academy Award for “Best Actor” for his portrayal of Marty Piletti in the 1955 movie, Marty,  died  at age 95of renal failure on July 8, 2012 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, California. His wife and children were at his side. Borgnine was 95 years old.

The thick-set, gap-toothed Borgnine built a reputation for playing heavies in early films like "From Here to Eternity" and "Bad Day at Black Rock." But he turned that reputation on its head as the shy, homely title character in "Marty," taking home the Oscar for best actor -- one of four awards the film claimed.
1955 Oscars: A year of firsts
His manager, Lynda Bensky, said Borgnine died of kidney failure Sunday afternoon. His wife, Tova, and children were at his side at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, she said.
"It's a very sad day," Bensky said. "The industry has lost someone great, the caliber of which we will never see again. A true icon. But more importantly, the world has lost a sage and loving man who taught us all how to 'grow young.' His infectious smile and chuckle made the world a happier place."

2010: Ernest Borgnine on 'Red' carpet

Born in Connecticut to Italian immigrants, Borgnine -- originally Ermes Effron Borgnino -- began taking theater classes after serving in the Navy during World War II.

He had joined the service after graduating from high school during the Great Depression and had been discharged in 1941, but re-enlisted after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor launched the United States into World War II.
He made the move to films and then television in 1951, racking up more than 200 credits in projects ranging from the era of live television drama to the children's cartoon "SpongeBob SquarePants."
He starred in the 1962-66 sitcom "McHale's Navy," was one of the original celebrities on the game show "The Hollywood Squares" and played William Holden's right-hand-man in Sam Peckinpah's revisionist Western "The Wild Bunch." He also was a regular on the 1980s television drama "Airwolf" and a frequent guest star on a variety of shows.
In addition to his Oscar for "Marty," Borgnine was nominated for three Emmys -- the most recent in 2009, for a guest spot on the hospital drama "ER" -- and won a life achievement award from the Screen Actors Guild in 2010.
Tova Borgnine, whom the actor married in 1973, was his fifth wife. His previous marriages included a brief 1964 union with Broadway legend Ethel Merman that lasted barely a month before the couple separated.

I really am going to miss this guy, I was lucky enough to meet him, He was at a horror convention in L.A, and I couldn't help but to grab a photo, autograph and to sit with him for most of the day. He guy has left his mark in my childhood from The Poseidon Adventure (1972) to McHale's Navy and Escape from New York (1981)  The comical guy still has a sense of humor and was always up for a big bear hug. To me, Ernest was a grandfather  I never had, I am happy to have spent a lot of time with him, but there never really is enough. He was an on-screen legend and thanks to the magic of Hollywood will always be remembered, but not for the fun-loving guy he was and for who I will always remember him by.

"Friday the 13th" Limited Edition Threads

Agh, another Friday the 13th pops up and this time I can only sign at it all. the excitement for a once a year thing has really gone and the clubs just don't celebrate it as much I they should, and let's face it last year watching the entire marathon of the "Friday the 13th" films three times got a little tiring. But this year Fright Rags has finally got some decent designs to love. If any Jason fan wants to celebrate it in style, here's a sneak peek of this weeks special event:

To accomplish this feat, we chose two extremely popular artists, but each with their own set of mad skills. Justin Osbourn has been the brains behind some of our most popular designs over the past few years, and knowing his love for Jason, it was evident that he should take a stab (pun intended) at one of the shirts. As for the second, we would look no further than the man himself - Jeff Zornow. A self-proclaimed Jason fanboy, the combination of this film and his genius were a match made in heaven.
Read below to get all the details on what you can expect this weekend, and then scroll to the bottom to see the shirts in all their gory glory!
  • THREE DAYS ONLY : These t-shirts will only be available from 12:01am Friday, July 13 through 11:59pm Sunday, July 15 . Undertaker News: Tombstone kills Leprechaun kid

US boy, 4, killed by falling tombstone

13:00 AEST Mon Jul 9 2012

A four-year-old American boy was helping his father take photographs when a 1.8m tombstone weighing more than 100kg fell and killed him.
Carson Dean Cheney was helping his father Zac as he took photos of another family in an old cemetery in Park City, Utah on Thursday.
The boy's grandmother, Geri Gibbs, said Carson was trying to make the children in the photograph smile by pretending to be a leprechaun.
He went behind the headstone and was poking his head out when metal connecting it to its pedestal broke and it fell on him.
"Carson passed away while trying to make others smile," said a colleague of Mr Cheney's, Curtis Morley.
Ms Gibbs said it took three men to pull the slab off the boy but the injuries to his head, chest and abdomen were severe.
Rescuers "did everything they could" before the boy was rushed to Park City Medical Centre, where he died a short time later.
Ms Gibbs said the family was still in shock.
"There's still so much disbelief and sorrow and anguish," she said.
"We just keep waiting for the door to open up and Carson to come through, a happy little boy."
The headstone, which was at least 100 years old, marked someone who had died in the 1800s.

A team of reporters for the Süddeutsche Zeitung-Magazin got close to Rammstein like none before: the photographer Andreas Mühe and the author Alexander Gorkow went on tour with Rammstein through Canada and the U.S. for weeks: backstage and onstage, on long drives and plane trips, on walks along the beach and through the desert, in the hotel and on the after-show parties. Mühe and Gorkow worked these experiences with the six band members and their crew into a 30-page long report, printed as a special issue of the Süddeutsche Zeitung-Magazin.

The Rammstein-SZ-Magazin will be enclosed in the Süddeutsche Zeitung on the upcoming Friday July, 6th.

Metal News: Lamb of GOD arrested over fan's death

Metal singer held over fan's death: report

12:02 AEST Sun Jul 1 2012

A singer with US heavy metal group Lamb of God has been arrested in the Czech Republic by police investigating the death of a fan at a concert, a report said on Saturday.
Randy Blythe, 44, was detained at Prague airport on Wednesday in connection with the death of the 19-year-old fan at a 2010 show in the city, the private TV Nova said on its website www.tn.cz.
The report said Blythe could be released on Monday after paying bail set at four million Czech koruna ($200,000).
The fan repeatedly tried to climb onto the stage before allegedly being pushed by Blythe and hitting the concrete floor, the report said.
He died 14 days later of his injuries, TV Nova said.
A post-mortem reportedly found that he had not been drunk or under the influence of drugs.
A Lamb of God concert in Prague scheduled for last Thursday at which Blythe had been due to perform was cancelled.
