SONG OF THE WEEK
MANILLA ROAD - "Crystal Logic"
Straight outta Kansas, Manilla Road always knew how to rock. Their "classic" sound was solidified with the epic release of Crystal Logic in 1983. This song always kept me alert on the open road after those 12 hour cross-country drives, and made nights out with friends even better around a fire.

Yeah, I think it's time to get back to Aussie Roots, and share to the world what we have to offer. Upon my last Pit Night out, I Discovered a little band that packed a punch, and managed to draw a crowd from around the country. This was the second night all my cameras decided to fail on me and I went into gig-night-review withdraws.
It's Thrash Metal, it's from Melbourne and It's now becoming world-known. I'm talking about
"Eye of the Enemy". Following on from the release of their debut self-titled EP in 2008 the Australian Band Eye of the Enemy are clearly making a play for Metal. If they keep going like this, there is no telling how big they can get. They ripped their way into the metal scene in 2006 with the debut release of their Demo and have the ability to appeal to metal fans and non-metal fans alike.Of-course this album is still rough around the edges, but it's that gritty feel that compliments one track to the next and definitely can raise a bar in the genre, Seeing it LIVE is one rush that could not stop me from being that Pit-whore that you all know and love. So for all of you people out there who are unfortunate enough not to be able to make it to a gig, get all sweaty and throw your best friend of the stage, I give to you the download of the week:
"Eye of the enemy" - Weight of redemption.

PLOT:
Construction worker Donald is having a hard time getting anything good to eat since his wife has decided to only cook gourmet foods. That and her constant harping cause him to snap, and he whacks her. Somewhere in the confusion he comes up with a new use for the microwave oven, and begins to eat much better. Soon he's experimenting with different recipes. And different meats.
BASICS:
Microwave Massacre is a 1983 dark comedy/horror film directed by Wayne Berwick and starring Jackie Vernon in his final feature film role
"Yes, this is the actual opening credits"
The film opens with campy 70's music with big titties bouncing out from From a chicks top. (One way to grab a mans attention). Then it pretty much jumps into the plot and constantly hits you around with humor from bad cannibal puns, cheesy pick-up lines to construction worker gags, Microwave Massacre assaults its audience with a cadre of consciously bad jokes meant to sabotage the narrative and sap it of any kind of substance.
Donald (Jackie Vernon) is a construction worker with a big problem: his shrew of a wife May (Claire Ginsberg) has started to only cook gourmet foods in a effort to make themselves seem classier than they are. While his friends Roosevelt and Phillip dine on simple bologna-and-cheese sandwiches for lunch, Donald is saddled with crab sandwiches and other cooking atrocities. The biggest problem in his life then gets a big solution - A Large Microwave. Donald then gets drunk one night and all hell breaks loose. The film opens with campy 70's music with big titties bouncing out from From a chicks top. (One way to grab a mans attention). "Man's Gotta Eat"
The weirdest thing in this movie is that as soon as Donald makes his wife 'disappear' he becomes the most attractive man, by that I mean just about every hot chick in the film wants to sleep with him, and he becomes quite the hero at work for bringing in the most tastiest food in for lunch. To think all of Mans problems would be solved by a Microwave. The neighbor relationship is hilarious for instance when Donald comes home drunk and notices neighbor with cat and says: "Oh, what a nice pussy! Pussy, pussy, pussy" and if I said anymore it would just ruin the film for you. You can get it on DVD, but the quality is not the best, if you want something out of this world your best be is an original uncut Pre-cert played on the largest 80's TV money can buy. With that said, beggars sadly cannot be choosers when it comes down to getting quality, But at least you can buy it just about anywhere.Jackie Vernon was soft-voiced comedian best known for his gentle wit and for providing the voice of Frosty the Snowman on several of the beloved Rankin/Bass Christmas specials, a Frequent entertainer in Las Vegas for stand up of social commentary or self-deprecating humor. Sadly Jackie passed away form a heart-attack in 1987.
"I'm so hungry I could eat a whore!"
If you want to look out for a special surprise guest, keep your eyes peeled for Paul Reubens (Pee-wee Herman) in an un-credited one-line cameo role. Once you see him- you will flip! - this film is a lot of fun
