"Australia Day"
(previously known as Anniversary Day, Foundation Day, and ANA Day) is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, the date commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788 and the proclamation at that time of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of New Holland.

It's not that often when I get to celebrate a national holiday, Alright, on the 4th of July I hang an american flag out the window of my car and eat candy corn all night until I'm sick. But Australia really doesn't celebrate it as much as it should, at least what it stands for anyway. These days Australia day is another excuse to get drunk, have a typical Aussie BBQ with over-cooked cheap sausages on white bread covered in tomato sauce and kick a footy around the front street trying to hit cars. The real crazy ones take off their shirts, cover their beer belly's in green and yellow paint and yell at passers by. Unfortunately the chicks never do this, otherwise I would have a blast!
I;m just glad that this year the stores are covered with Aussie garbage to buy and trying their best efforts to get people into it a little bit more, rather than contemplating to change that date of the event or protest over it.

SONG OF THE WEEK
AC/DC - "Highway to Hell"
It's Aussie, It's classic and although its actually about visiting a pub that the band used to call "Hell", it still has given me enough reason to drive like a maniac at 3am driving interstate. It's a dirty rotten shame that the radio has plugged it too many times and called it mainstream. But the media is another shithead I will never trust and I refuse it to ruin another band for me. Pump it up! and if you love it - make sure to download my Aussie Rock compilation in 'download of the week', you will love everything in it!
----------------------------------------------------------------- Getting to know: Aussie Slang
I know, Sometimes it's a little hard to understand what we are talking about. Hell, I think that Australia has a language all in it's own. Even watched the first season of "Prisoner in cell block H"?, I honestly believe that every american needs an Aussie translator to see that show.
So To help everyone out Here is an online simple Dictionary:

Do you wan tot know the Difference between an American Hot dog, and an Australian Hot dog? I'll do you one better, I will even give you a few Aussie recipes that you can try at home..these are real easy.
Australian VS. American
Pretty easy to spot the difference, so if you wan to try out an Aussie snag from anywhere in the world..
(I know that kangaroo sausages are then out of the question, but they do taste great with a lot of great condiments) so for everyone who ever wanted to know, then this is the most easiest recipe on:How to make a Classic Aussie "Hot dog"/"Snag"
Ingredients:
1. The cheapest sausages you can find. The kind that have a tough skin, (any meat filling you wish)
2. White Bread3. Tomato sauce (any kind) or equivalent sauce/ketchup
4. Sliced Onions, (brown or white) (optional)
Method:
1. Using a BBQ, skittet or similar cook the sausages until done. Then continue to cook the sasages until brown and tough, there is no such thing as 'overcooked' when making an Aussie snagWhile cooking the snag, whack on some sliced onions and cook until transparent, and you don't want these babies to burn!
2. put each sausage in a piece of white bread, placed from corner to corner to easily fold the bread around it.3. top with a lot of Tomato sauce and onions (onions are optional, depending on taste).
4. enjoy! :)

Because 10 Wasn't enough:
Screw IMDB, Yahoo Answers and search engines, I have lived and breathed in this country long enough to have endured endless hours of Australian Films. and YES- "Strictly Ballroom" is the Aussie knock-off for "Dirty Dancing". There are of-course ones that stick out from the crowd and are not to missed out on. Whenever you like Aussie cinema or not these films will do something for you. So I give to you The top Aussie Films to NOT miss out on (in no specific order):
MAD MAX (1979) & MAD MAX 2: The Road Warrior (1981)
In a dystopic future Australia, a vicious biker gang murder a cop's family and make his fight with them personal. You Cannot just watch one of these, marathon them together in one night to see classic Action from one of the most iconic post-apocalyptic films in history, and of-course to see Mel Gibson in his younger, tight pants days. The cars alone are worth the watch.
Copper (2000)
Chopper tells the intense story of Mark "Chopper" Read, a legendary criminal who wrote his autobiography while serving a jail sentence in prison. His book, "From the Inside", upon which the film is based, was a best-seller. Having met Chopper in real life, he always tends to say that the film is nothing like his real life, but I think that is from his "new Leaf", Either way it is a great film and Eric Banner's performance could not have been any better, to think an Aussie comedian ended up making it big in Hollywood?
The Castle (1997)
A Melbourne family is very happy living where they do, near the Melbourne airport. However, they are forced to leave their beloved home, by the Government and airport authorities. 'The Castle' is the story of how they fight to remain in their house, taking their case as far as the High Court. Timeless comedy which has the BEST DEPICTION OF AUSTRALIA. The language, the food, the household, the terrain. I cannot stress this enough, but if you have ever wondered what Australia really is like- Then watch this film!!
Romper Stomper (1992)
A group of skinheads become alarmed at the way their neighborhood is changing. Also, this one ranks as my favorite all time Punk film. It cannot be anymore true of how society used to be in Australia with imagration and cultural differences.
Two Hands (1999)
A 19 year old (Heath Ledger) finds himself in debt to a local gangster (Bryan Brown) when some gang loot disappears and sets him on the run from thugs. Meanwhile two street kids start a shopping spree when they find the missing money. Rose Byrne co-stars as a country girl, who Ledger starts a romance on his trip.
The Loved Ones (2009)
When Brent turns down his classmate Lola's invitation to the prom, she concocts a wildly violent plan for revenge.Having seen this in the cinema not expecting anything but another teenage Hollywood film about a prom, it actually blew me away! With an incredible story, totally Australian and amazing character development. This one instantly became an Aussie sensation and there is a reason why. All Horror Fans Must see this one!
Bad Boy Bubby (1993)
Bubby's buxom mother tricked him to stay locked at home for thirty years, during which she mounts and abuses him. Buddy ends up in the streets groping random women until finding a nurse who is even more buxom than his late mother. In a nutshell- The fictional Australian Leatherface that goes where no other Aussie horror has gone before. This one is truly messed up!
Wolf Creek (2005)
Stranded backpackers in remote Australia fall prey to a murderous bushman who offers to fix their car, then takes them captive. This one is loosely based on true events, by that I mean they gathered two completely different true crime stories and rolled them into one. Still it made every traveling teenager shit scared for weeks after this one- it had the 'jaws' Effect on the outback.
Rabbit-Proof fence (2002)
In 1931, three aboriginal girls escape after being plucked from their homes to be trained as domestic staff and set off on a trek across the Outback. This is probably the only aboriginal slave films ever made, it has a lot of heart and one for the watch-list.
The Nugget (2002), The Idiot Box (1996) , Kenny (2006) , Fat Pizza (2003) and
The Wog Boy (2000)
These all together on the same level, and best to group them all, For classic Aussie comedy these ones sit on the surface... and very top for others.
Razorback (1984)
A wild, vicious pig terrorizes the Australian outback. You want to know what a "Bush Pig" is? Just see this film. One Horror not to miss out on!
Turkey Shoot (1982)
Grind-house! Deviants are held at a rehabilitation fortress until they're set into a deadly game of survival, in the hopes of returning to world society. A thoroughly trashy sci-fi horror variation of The Most Dangerous Game from Ozploitation legend Brian Trenchard-Smith, A truly archetypal exploitation picture, chock full of nudity and gratuitous violence, this dystopian gorefest seemed to be custom built for the international market. Fortunate, given how hard it bombed at home.
Also not to miss out on : Crocodile Dundee (1986) and The Dish (2000)
And if you are still looking for gold, check out one amazing New Zealand film.. they are paractaically out neighbors :
Once Were warriors (1994)
A family descended from Maori warriors is bedeviled by a violent father and the societal problems of being treated as outcasts.
Strewth, that was a bloody grouse Ocker Day update. You've done ya country proud. What a top sheila!
