Hundreds of bodies found in German university

Hundreds of decomposed human bodies abandoned over a decade ago have been found in the cellars of a German university, according to reports.

Staff at the University of Cologne discovered a room packed with human adult corpses and animal cadavers, as well as numerous plastic buckets.
Some of the buckets had labels on them saying "noses", "newborns" and "shark head", according to Spiegel Online.
Hygiene experts and fire safety officers said the corpses appear to have been abandoned over ten years ago.
As rumours began to surface of the discovery last month the former head of the anatomy department was found dead, reportedly after taking his own life.
The corpses were of people who had donated their bodies to medical research but they were meant to have been buried once the research was completed.
The university’s rector Axel Freimuth said the discovery was "completely unacceptable" and it had "deeply shattered and shocked" the university.
The public prosecutor's office has said there is no evidence of any crime.
