Man masked as Darth Vader robs bank
Thursday, 29 July 2010
Darth_vader_robberA man dressed as the Star Wars antagonist Darth Vader robbed a bank in Setauket, New York. The robber was dressed in a character themed mask and blue cape. Armed with a hand gun, the robber stole an undetermined amount of cash from the Chase bank branch.
The robber entered the bank saying that he was robbing it. Customers initially thought it was a joke and began laughing. Detective William Lamb of the Suffolk County Police Department said that one customer attempted to tackle the robber and was attacked. He is seen cowering in the background of surveillance photographs. The robber then approached a teller and demanded cash while brandishing a weapon.

This robbery is the latest in a string of odd bank robberies in the New York metropolitan area. Yesterday the New York Police Department arrested a man robbing banks, while carrying flowers and potted plants. Police are also looking for an apparent cross dressing robber who stuck up a bank in Long Island.

Alleged ghost hunt in Toronto ends in death
Wednesday, 16 September 2009
Spadina CrescentA 29-year-old woman is dead after she fell from the roof of a University of Toronto building, apparently seeking ghosts.
The deceased, which some reports say was Leah Kubik, was exploring a building at 1 Spadina Crescent with a male companion around 2:00 a.m. (EDT). She attempted to make a jump from one section of the building to another and missed, resulting in a three-story fall into a courtyard below. Kubik was taken to St Michael's Hospital in Toronto where doctors pronounced her dead.

According to the Toronto Star, the pair had been drinking alcohol. Police initially said the two were hunting ghosts, but now say the two had finished a first date and were walking home when they decided to explore the building. An investigation is ongoing.

The building, built for Knox College in 1874, was purchased by the University 37 years ago.

Puppy love: man marries a real dog
A YOUNG Toowoomba man yesterday tied the knot with his best friend – a five-year-old labrador named Honey. You may now kiss the... dog? Joseph Guiso ties the knot with his best friend, Honey the labrador.
In perhaps a first for the Garden City, Laurel Bank Park hosted the wedding of Joseph Guiso and Honey, a labrador he adopted five years ago.
Thirty of the couple’s closest friends and family were in attendance for the emotional ceremony, held at dusk.
"You’re my best friend and you make every part of my day better," Mr Guiso’s vows read.
The couple decided on the location – and to tie the knot - after stumbling upon a wedding in Laurel Bank Park during an afternoon walk.
"I said that could be us," Mr Guiso said.
"She didn’t say anything so I took that as a yes."
Mr Guiso said as a "religious guy", he could no longer take the guilt of living with Honey out of wedlock.
"It’s not sexual," he assured the onlookers.
"It’s just pure love."
The couple is planning a short honeymoon to one of Toowoomba’s parks.

A MISSOURI man has been arrested after asking police to help him get money back from two prostitutes.
The Columbia DailyTribune reported Tuesday that 19-year-old Ryan M. McNames told police that he offered two women $60 for one to show him her chest and the other to perform oral sex on him.
Columbia police spokeswoman Jessie Haden says the women left with the money even though no oral sex was performed.
McNames told police Saturday he wanted at least $40 returned.
McNames was arrested on suspicion of patronizing prostitution and released from jail after posting a $500 bond.
Efforts by The Associated Press to reach McNames through phone numbers associated with his name weren't successful and calls to police to determine whether he had an attorney weren't immediately returned.
