Hi there,
I am writing to you today to explain the conditions of nursing homes; the so called “caring” and “quality” as they put it sometimes isn’t always the right choice. Who would ever know how bad people are actually taking care of your loved one, there are appointed visiting hours and you never know what goes on at night either. That is until I come around. I can get access into any nursing home - anytime, when the staff is caught out on what really goes on. I have seen people get treated so badly that is it just sad, and quite honestly I would never put someone I love into a home that I know is bad. So I have had enough, the people should know what is going on, and since this is not the first bad place I have been to, it is on the Top list of
The worst Nursing homes. “Windermere Retirement Lodge”
150-152 Cooper Street, Essendon VIC 3040 (03) 9379 4006
Why it is so bad:
The condition of the room was appalling, considering that is was not only too small, but the bed was so old fashioned that is could not be raised or lowered making it painful for patients to lye in. The lady that we collected had a skin condition, leading her to infection from it not being treated or wrapped up properly, there was blood and infections waste in her bed which was clearly not cleaned for days, instead there was just used tissues everywhere. The bedside table had old used straws and old Easter wrappers around, considering it is July: that is pretty bad. Soiled blankets covered the chairs, the stench was terrible with no diapers - I can only imagine the pain that this woman suffered before death.

The staff:
The staff were so rude and ended up yelling at us that we didn’t phone before we arrived. They then stalled for time and told us to use a smaller entrance to which we couldn’t reverse our car into and was then impossible to squeeze out the door. The orderly started to swear at us very angrily “did you fucking call!?”, at that point we ignored them and just went inside only to have the nursing staff not give me any information and pretended not to know English. This was the funny thing because as we were leaving with the deceased all she could say was “fucking idiots”, and speak to the orderly in clear English before telling us to “Just get the fuck out!”
This one is on the Do not visit list, Unless you want to walk on sticky floors soiled with old urine and walk through hallways of stench before you see your loved one in poor conditions. This one really shows that you must do your research before putting someone you love in someone else’s hands.
