Brutal intense and hardcore. This entire night packed a punch and gave Australia another chance to see the mad MACABRE.  This was one to night to remember..if you can the next morning.

 "INTERNAL NIGHTMARE "

Powerful-destructive mayhem! As I normally start off for any gig, It's straight to the merchandise table, then a quick scan to see how many hot guys there are, and then I'm heading close to the stage.
This time I was blown away as soon as my foot passed through the door. I picked up an EP for only $2, that's for 3 songs.. $2! They came in different colored cases too, so they make great gifts. Not knowing what I got myself into, I managed to get to the stage as Internal Nightmare was whaling. Featured in Beat Magazine and Reverbnation  you can get easily get close and attached to these guys. My hair was flowing in the wind of beats thrashing out of the speakers. Not only do they have band shits and CD's for sale, but you can get their tunes for free as profiled over facebook. I managed to get some video too, so if you scroll down you can see how aggressive they manage to deliver a true dynamic metal sound that will blow you away! Check out Internal Nightmare out if you ever have the chance to - seeing them Live and loud truly is a lifetime experience, one that I hope to re-live again and again.

"THE MUNG"

Grind.. It comes out fast and loud and lets you feel the bass through your whole body at the back of the room. The night really fired up and the crowd began to get crazy. With cleverly named songs by including the words "piss", a love song with "fudge" and "yeast infection from a priests erection",  and the lead singer for the night who has some striking resemblance to Charles Manson, these guys knew their stuff. I was glad that they opened to Macabre, not only was it perfect to tie-in to the night, but I am glad to have the opportunity to catch three great bands, and not just one. Seriously, catch these guys if your into Grind Metal.. you will have one hell of a night!

Band Members:
Rob Taylor - Vocals
David Stepanavicius - Guitars
Michael Verlaan - Bass
Luke Di Cesare - Drums

"MACABRE"

As the band sets up, the fans wait with anticipation, and t-shits to match

The band that single-handily got me through High School - Macabre. Never in my life I would have expected these guys to travel down Under, and play in a small pub. I was left breathless as they got the treatment for a local cover band - they set up the stage themselves and with only a few helpful people
(that woman with the long hair who helped with the bands was so dedicated)
But when they started to play, Macabre got the really got the recognition they deserved.

It's so easy to tell that America streams through their veins, the look and personality came alive and poured out into the crowd. Intense and powerful - this band has not lost it's touch, or it's ability to make you go crazy. The Pit was so dirty that not only did I end up with bruises and injuries, I also got an entire schooner of cold beer poured on my back.. that spells out how crazy it got. You can scroll down to the video to see the crowds madness.
With no set-list, Macabre plays different songs every gig. This is great for an avid fan becasue you could see the entire Australian Tour and experience something different each time.

Highlights of the gig:
  • When a fan shouted out "Yeah..DISINFECTANT!" as the intro. for  "scrub a dub dub"
  • The endless hilarious chants from the audience
  • The PIT!
  • The introductory song, with "ZODIAC"
  • every song was introduced with the most macabre and brutal descriptions of murder. I found it to be quite disturbing, and unlike anything you would hear on the Discovery channel. I loved every second.
When the gig was finished just about every fan thanked them for visiting, telling them how much they rock and how grateful we are to have them. I was quick enough to have my things ready and asked for their autographs, Dennis the Menace got me up on stage to have a photo taken with him, and excused himself for being sweaty and not wearing a shirt, like he had to do that - the guy is a legend and a master of drum-work, if he wasn't like that something would have been wrong.
Then it was outside and backstage to meet the other genius's who make up Macabre. You could talk, laugh and party with them all night, I was lucky to get more photos with the band. One fan wanted to sign my chest, I was alright with it, but I thought Macabre were more important - He ended up with a signed band shirt. They are loyal to their fans and couldn't have rocked and louder or harder.

I was actually planing on visiting the states only to see these guys play and do a whole 'serial killer' tour. After being a hardcore fan for over 10 years, seeing them live made the impossible happen - it managed to  make me love them even more. They crossed one off my bucket-list that night, and left me with a sore neck, husky voice and memories that will last a lifetime.
Macabre Australian Tour is running until their last gig on JULY 1st in Geelong. Do what you have to to see these guys, they might never come back.

Band Members:

Corporate Death (Lance Lencioni) - guitars, vocals
Nefarious (Charles Lescewicz) - bass guitar, vocals

Pictures of the extreme night
Here are some pics of the bands, crowd pleasing tunes and whaling talents. I was so close to Corporate Death, that at some points my hair flipped his guitar and I was thrashed so much from the people behind me that I nearly head-butted his ummm..groin area.
