: "RE-MAKE"?! You might as well butcher another classic, "lets bring in something that a new generation can enjoy", I'm sorry but even a generation of today would still find the original "Munsters" funny and cooky. This show will be a total miss for me, I'm sticking to the original in all its restored glory. Just seeing a cheesy Herman Munster with a cheap laugh will make me puke, will they even replace the word "Boob" with "Fail"? If the show is too dark it won't work - Check out the original pilot that was never aired.. it was too dark and just plain stupid. (you can see it with the released DVD's extra features) We don't need to forget the greats, just get some new ideas for god's sake. Make a spin-off of the show and set it in today's era..Now you have a show that the people can enjoy and stop this ranting debate or re-makes vs. originals.. Just stop it!

Arrested Development actress Portia de Rossi has landed the role of Lily Munster in the Munsters remake Mockingbird Lane. Portia will be inheriting the ghoulish black and white wig originally donned by glamorous actress Yvonne De Carlo during the 1960s. Portia’s casting comes after the announcement that the remake would feature a new-look Herman Munster played by Stand By Me child star Jerry O’Connell.
Other actors signed on include Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, Mason Cook as the werewolf son Eddie and English actress Charity Wakefield as "plain" cousin Marilyn. Mockingbird Lane is expected to be adarker drama than the original comedy series, and will explore the backstory of Herman and Lily. The show will be written by Bryan Fuller from Pushing Daisies and directed by Bryan Singer, who has helmed episodes of House.
