Soundwave - Melbourne 2011

Sadly there cannot be a massive write up for Soundwave. But we can still have the highlights, reviews, downloads and videos of the day.

This year was the biggest yet, and to top it off they managed to get headlining bands that really didn't go long enough. Slayer, Iron Maiden, Rob Zombie, Primus, Ill Nino, Murderdolls, Devildriver just to name a few and of-course Slash was ripped on by heaps of people there
Best Parts:
The Music! It was worth every penny to be able to get the opportunity to see so many great bands in one full day. Each had their own unique highlight - costumes, lighting, stage props, crowd surfing, mosh pits, throwing out things to the crowd. The worst and Best mosh pit off all was of-course "Slayer". One experience I will never forget, but if I ever wanted to know about prison riots- I don't need to ask anymore. "Primus" was much better than I expected-never thought I would ever see these guys live, let alone jumping around stage with inflated astronauts with Les Claypool wearing a Pig head. Rob Zombie ofcoruse rocked hard, he jumped into the audience and over fences ( I touched his pants!) Rob Zombie cartoons played in the giant video screen behind him and the band had wicked costumes and makeup. Zombie was even awesome enough to wear a Custom made Aussie flag robe!

Security was good, they helped out a girl that got sick and thrashed in the pit, they help you out of crowd surfing, and if you throw a shoe- they threw it back. We could dance, sing, take pictures, and rock hard! There was an army of police at the end of the event which made it funny because everyone was too exhausted to be bad and just wanted to go home. Talk about a Prev-Fest! where the hell are these guys when I go out?  My brothers said that there was too much pussy to perv on - that must say a lot. I took off my clothes after the Slayer pit and security ran up to me so I yelled out "It's a Bikini!" and he walked off - that was mad!

This years soundwave was too good to miss out- Every Band showed up, all on time and NO technical difficulties -(Yay Melbourne!) We did have a bit or rain but nothing to ruin anybodys hair ..or fun. Surprisingly enough I bumped into 8 friends there, that is an accomplishment in itself and made the day even better - Fun is best served with great people.

Worst Parts:
I honestly think that everyone who promotes at the "Royal Melbourne Showgrounds" is stupid. Even if they get an awesome event, great celebs, or an amazing show - They still manage to fuck it up. Ticket sales went through the roof! They were sold out very quickly all over the country, and they have an estimated head count of how many people will attend, However they did not allow anyone to park at the showgrounds - Thus leaving every man for himself where they could have accompanied parking for twice as many people that went. We were in a 2 hour traffic jam to reach a retarded security guard to tell us to fuck off. (Money well spent) and I had to ask people on the street for money so we would park at an arena miles away.
Overpriced Drinks.
The toilet line was 45 minutes Min. and the showground toilets were locked or blocked off. - don't they understand that chicks take ages in there - they should have had more, I ended up in a flooded toilet with no paper - my brothers just went for it on a fence.

Merchandise was best come best serve, if you were at the end of the line with a one hour wait by the time you got there, everything was sold out. Come on- You are there to make money surely you would stock more, and come on! Most metal heads are size XL - why would you stock mostly XS, this is not a Bieber concert.
Once again the food line was a long wait and for a glorious $13 you can grab a souvlaki - without pitta bread, or sauce and only dry burnt off-cut meat on a shitty bun - Why wouldnt you bring 2 x the amount of people there - you must be fucking retarded!
And to all the cunts who punched their way through crowds to get to front row when the first song started - fuck you! You are the maker of fights and don't think I wont trip you when you pass me- assholes!

Even with all the bad parts - Soundwave was amazing, Grab your friends, put on your metal shirt, let your hair out and get ready to rock!
Lets rock tonight!
Heard some amazing tunes out there, so if you missed out- you can catch up here!
