FRIDAY-FRIBYAR-FUNDAY

SONG OF THE WEEK
Hurricane - "Spark in my Heart"
Yeah, I know that not many people like Hurricane, but this song rocks. I still have the original album on cassette in the back of my car from years of playing - even though I don't have a cassette player, it's just there for the hell of it. It was featured on "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3", and is one amazing song to drive home to at night.

NEVERMORE - An Evening with
 Edgar Allan Poe
"...Prose, Poetry, and Perversion..."

"Nevermore" has returned to the Steve Allen Theater after it's popular, extended run in 2009! Jeffrey Combs, the star of Re-Animator, From Beyond, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine/Enterprise plays the brilliant but tormented American author in this chilling play. Set in 1848, Nevermore is loosely based on real events and follows Poe on a cross-country speaking tour fraught with strange occurences that signal Poe's descent into madness.

Heading over to a Horror Convention?
One store that is overlooked and past by is "Lix Online". They have a good selection of horror Movie Threads, hoodies and even girl tanks and baby doll t-shirts. The only downfall is that their site doesn't offer a great store, you have to e-mail requests and not all of their products on even on it. Your best bet to get the goods is to visit the store in-person -However, if you are heading out to a horror Movie Convention, they offer a large amount of products. Even their girl section is big, and with loads of discounts and special convention prices.
So, If you are heading over to a convention near your area this year, why not check out Lix Online,

Must See Movie of the week
If you want to see something that's not highly seen in movie rental stores, and something not to miss out on.
Today's movie is:   AMIN: The rise and Fall (1981)
PLOT:
The chronicle of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin and his tyranic rule from 1971 to his overthrow in 1979.
"Choc full of heady-goodness!"

 BASICS:
The film details the controversial actions and atrocities of the former dictator of Uganda, Idi Amin Dada, during his violent rise to power in 1971 until his overthrow in 1979 as the result of the Uganda–Tanzania War.Amin then goes on to believing he is the 'Hitler of Africa' and promises that he will actually erect a statue in honour of his namesake "in the middle of Kampala". Amin becomes a rather childish and sick psychopath who mixes voodoo, rape, torture, and dancing. He says things like: "I am the best lover of Africa", "I'm big daddy" and "I am greater than Mohammed Ali". He practices cannibalism and takes part in motor rallies. He has rebels killed and dumped into the river Nile and is responsible for the deaths of about 150,000 people.
"The rage of a maniac... the rape of a people!"
If you want a classic exploitation film, with sound issues so that some has to be dubbed - then this jem is for you!. It is a great movie that depicts a dictator that is shockingly accurate.
Some parts are humorous to watch, but then when you realize that the events actually happened  and that Africa has undergone many wars such as this one, it becomes rather sad It is a low-budget film but I still have to wonder how they manage to do the Special effects. The Character of Amin is so- over the top with cannibalism, unnecessary punishments, executions and wife collecting - it is hard to believe that this man actually was alive and managed to rule for so many years.

The special effects worth the watch, some parts are just like watching a documentary leaving you wonder if you are watching real death scenes or not.  The film is smart to add real news coverage and film footage that mixes in well. Blood looks like real blood, and not some mixed up syrup shot from a college dorm room - making you actually shocked to watch it.
"Amazing life-like special effects"

This film portrays a real  part of history, incorporating real life footage, amazing special effects and a classic exploitation film -  So go and see it!
