RE-ANIMATOR - THE MUSICAL
EXTENDED THRU JUNE 26th!
(DON'T MISS OUT)
In 1985, Stuart Gordon directed his first feature film and created a sensation. It was "Re-Animator," a smashing success based on a horror story by H.P. Lovecraft. The film delivered as many laughs as it did screams making it a cult classic among horror fans and winning a Critic's Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Now, Gordon is back with his co-writers Dennis Paoli and William J. Norris and composer/lyricist Mark Nutter to turn "Re-Animator" into a musical for the stage.
Special effects are being done by the same guys who did them for the 1985 movie: Tony Doublin, John Naulin, and John Beuchler. And the blood will flow so freely that the first row will literally be designated as a "SPLASH ZONE." Needless to say, this show is not for small children. You won't want to miss "Re-Animator - The Musical." It's certain to inject some life into the spring stage season!

What Australia has
- Convention Wise
We really only have 2 for the whole year
We had to pay $1,000 to see William Shatner a few months ago. He was at a university. yes, that is for entry and then you had to pay to meet him.. (by that I mean say hello before Bruno shoves you away). And if you want a photo opp and an autograph you might as well sell your car. No vendors, no convention.. Justmeet see the guy. Everyone cannot see that this is wrong. It is wrong on so many levels. If it was cheap- more pople would go. I can go to America and meet William Shatner and I would pay about $1,500 for flights, accommodation photo, autograph, and entry, not to mention party in Vegas for a few days. Jokes on them - because I can party all night with him too. Spend 3 more days there and also meet over 70 celebrities. Hmmm... Australia to meet one person, or America and meet heaps..
Don't give me this" It's Australia" thing either, because we are a big country and there is nothing stopping us from having a great horror convention, just the assholes who want all the money. Its the country's first ever convention- this should be a big deal, not just a big rip-off.
What Have I done to Help:
I have contacted and even had long discussions with a founder of a convention in Australia, I cannot say which one it is, I can however say that it is Not the Armageddon expo. I can even get celebrities from America, I know many personally and I also know a lot who would love to travel to Australia to do a convention. I can make the people come here, I can even get great stalls and merchandise - But NO, apparently there is not a big enough audience here. Funny with that said considering everyone asks me about one, and the largest underground cinema that only plays horror films is in the newspapers, television and has become so popular that it is now no-longer underground. Hence, why I don't want to go to a cinema filled with mobile phone tags and drugged out college idiots.
When I was a tromette for Llyod Kaufman in his Aussie tour, I spoke to many die-hard troma fans and all asked if I knew of a horror convention.-This is what I'm talking about. there are too many people who want this, I can make so much happen, but I am being suppressed by assholes and have to compete with "Harry Potter" stand in actors that get 10 seconds screen time.
Who can we thank:
----------------------------------------------------------------- What Australia has to Offer Suffer!
Australia's First ever Horror convention, and they had to make us pay dearly.
Australia's First ever Horror convention, and they had to make us pay dearly.
What this is:
This is Australia's FIRST ever horror convention. It has taken this country until 2011 to have a horror convention. The myths are in magazines. we don't have what America does, it has been years and now we can finally have a slice of that pie, but at what cost?
Past Events with Horror celebrities in Australia:
We actually had the Opportunity to Meet Kane Hodder, and Jeffery Combs Last year. I was going to meet with Kane for the day, have lunch with him and hang out all day. (This is how I knew of this information). I counted down the days, and before long not one word was even whispered about the two of them coming Down Under. Not a single word. However, there was a big uproar about other idiots, Some guy who stared in the new Doctor who. Nobody special just some douche in the background. It wasn't until a week before the event I got a hold of news that Kane will not be attending. when the event came up, I went anyway and asked to director of events of Kane's cancellation I was given a pamphlet with size 6 font on the back bottom corner saying Unfortunately Kane Hodder and Jeffery combs cannot attend this event due to other engagements". I didn't even know about Jeffery until this stage, and this is me - I know everything horror related in the country. This really pissed me off. Considering I was speaking to Jeff about 6 months before this. Of-course if one cancelled the other would, and really America with money, or a 16hr+ flight to a country that only recognizes you in small text on a pamphlet nobody cares about. I made sure to ask everyone there wearing a cool shirt about the two and they nothing of the sort and it only spread the disappointment.

What Americans Sadly Don't Know:
In America we are able to meet and greet with celebrities, By that I mean we can approach a table and have a jolly ol' chat, even grab a photo with them and find out a little more about the person you have admired for a big part of your life. They walk out of their space and you can what?- even get a hug if you ask nicely. In Australia however, it is nothing like that. The celebrities are behind a card table for the entire event, there is also a huge line and a security guard, volunteer or some unknown asshole to tell you to move on. You really are lucky to get a handshake let alone say "Hi, I'm Am.." and get dragged away like a wild river current yelling "it was nice.. arghhh". This is what we have to pay for. We still have to be used to idea of anyone cool to cancel out. sometimes I wonder if they were going to it in the first place, or its a scam to make you buy pre-sale tickets for yet even more money. -for the whole country.
You pretty much pick between the two, or go to both, considering one is in October, and the other in March. Supanova and myself have had a long history together, starting with the David Harris celebrity march when I was the purchaser of the "Warriors" props, then the costume contests as I brought in many "too- revealing" and controversial costumes, and then the banning, arguments and internet disasters. I have been blocked, banned and censored form the internet for even mentioning this convention. Only because I had ideas to make it work better, little things like wristbands for entry instead of a $25 stamp on the wrist that rubs off 1/2 was through the day and spending another $25 to get another one on you. (This gets costly when you are in a skintight leather costume). I'm not being an asshole, I just think that they should have things more comfortable for patrons. And they used to have the world cult on there slogan even though no cult celebrities have been there. Its just an Anime dress up place where you can buy overpriced comics, domino's pizza and stand in line to meet someone from twilight. Armegeddon is better in the sense of location and they have a better variety of celebrities, although its mostly kiddie based with ice-cream eating contests, card playing and pillow fights - you can sometimes get lucky and meet some cool and you can wear a mini-skirt for a costume.
Traveling
Both conventions are country wide, so they differ from state to state. Sometimes you have to travel to another state to meet one person. this gets costly and is more of a hassle that it sounds. This Horror convnetion is only in One state. My money is that Robert Englund will cancel if he doesn't see a lot of money coming in for this. How many times has he cancelled on American conventions? not to mention his strict rules for meeting him.

The cost for all of this?

That's right, so a general pass for the one day -to get in -NOTHING else -
JUST TO WALK IN A FUCKING DOOR IS $120!!
Austrek Membership really is no discount (Its not for free). and so you know what the big deal is this is

The Price in America General Events:
Why they are such Cunts:
The only thing that they can say is that you get a pretty good deal. "Pretty good deal?"!. I don't know what good deal is for paying that much to walk in a door. They don't even have vendors, or any reasons to call it a convention, for $120 I want to at least see a panel of stars -for $120 they should have minimum 5 celebrities. Las Vegas Star Trek Convention has over 70 , yes 70 celebrities, costume contest, vendors, movies, performances, and more things that I can list and its not even $120 much to walk in for one day. We had to pay $1,000 to see William Shatner a few months ago. He was at a university. yes, that is for entry and then you had to pay to meet him.. Who can we thank:
You can thank the dream-team for being in convention business for over 12 years, and who make you feel special by buying a membership from them. And for that "good deal" v.i.p price of just $500 you wont have to wait in line, but will get moved along faster as you are first in line. We can thank the two Robs, (Humpty and Dumpty- as they call themselves) who don't listen to reason, who make this country yet again suffer. and who will probably start another hate debate with me and try to have my voice censored. I have a right to say what I want, yes Supanova that Is right - that is why I am allowed my opinion and tell it like it is. We don't have to be subjected to evil doings, and I will not be forced to pay for things I can get for free. Fuck you all, and I hope that only one day someone will listen to me and together we can get a real convention up and running. Until these assholes back-down and stop stealing money -that can only be a dream.
Thank -you so much! ..assholes
