Corpse was driven in car for three days

The US man who shocked emergency room staff by taking the decomposing body of his paraplegic friend to a hospital had driven her around for three days.

Police in New Mexico said 33-year-old Amy Marquez had been slumped in the passenger side of the car since she went drinking with Jerry Maestas on Sunday, ABC News reports.
Officers said she had been dead for about 66 hours, but it was not until her back started turning blue that Maestas, 64, brought her into hospital.
He told nurses in the emergency room a friend was ill and needed a wheelchair.
Lieutenant Christian Lopez said when he arrived at the parking lot of Espanola Hospital, the odour emanating from the car was overwhelming.
"There were flies all over. I don't know how he [Maetas] didn't know," Lt Lopez said.
"He's not all there, I guess. I have no confirmation that he has a mental illness but this guy isn't running on all cylinders."
Maestas told police Marquez was fine on Sunday after the pair spent the day drinking alcohol while driving idly around town.
He did not think anything of Marquez lying still since, as a paraplegic, she could not move the lower half of her body, Lopez said.
Maestas, a retired prison guard, reasoned with officers that because she wore an adult diaper she would not have needed to use a bathroom during her three-day road trip.
Early indications suggest Marquez may have died of positional asphyxiation, as her paralysis meant her brain could not be alerted to the fact that her body position was cutting off the oxygen supply.
An autopsy, performed on Wednesday, found no sign of foul play, Lt Lopez said.
Toxicology reports will reveal how much alcohol Marquez may have had in her system and whether she had taken any drugs, although the results will not be known for at least four weeks.
Maestas, of Espanola in New Mexico's south, has been charged with failing to report a death. A judge set a US$500 bail, but no one has yet posted a bond.

I first listed to Charred on the "Boone Brothers Show" ( I love those guys). They were featured many months ago. So after listening to their full album (Walls of the damned) , I went out and bought it. I have have had this CD in my car for a long time and goes great for nights on the town, long drives home, and trips to concerts. Its a great Album and for something that was released last year -its fresh Talent with promising sound.
