Friday Night- Gig Night
Pony Bar, Melbourne 1st April 2011
The Venue:
I Don't know what went worng tonight. The streets were crouded, the traffic was jammed and yet, this place was dead. No mohawks, studded jackets, or pogo. It was as if all of Toorak said " lets go nuts boys!", "Look at me, I am shuffling my feet!" But this was, for the first time ever, a pretty boring place to be for the night. They got rid of red lighting, and set up the speakers on top of each other to have one big loud accident Waiting to happen. Where were the green milk crates, the sticky carpets spots. Even the graffiti was cleaned up-This wasn't pony at all.
Merry Go Rounds
These guys were different. They wernt heavy, or punk but on the alternative side. They had a harmonica solo with an electric guitar, so that was somethinhg that you don't see everyday.
Surprisingly it was only a 2- man band. I was waiting for the guitarist to jump on stage and start telling people to "get fucked!". But this band was different. The first song took some people to catch onto, the DJ was still playing music so we all though they were still running a test, but soon enough the people caught on. They played the kind of music that your ex-rocker mom would listen to while at a cafe'. anyway here is their album. It was their Album launch, and sadly the girl at the dorr did not promote well enough, You had to pre-buy this CD when you entered, and sadly on request. If only they had someone to handle merchandise- they would have made a killing.
